For four years in high school, I co-led the Drama & Literacy club at Kingsbridge Heights Community Center. We had a lot of return students year-over-year in the club, and I always looked forward to these visits. I also was a Coordinator for the Service-Learning Team at the Center for Community Values and Action. Relating to both of these roles, I made lesson plans and scripts, like the ones below. At the beginning of a trimester, we would read a few children’s books. I then adapted one book or story per year into a script with roles for the students to read and perform in the Spring each year for the community, complete with costumes and an outdoor amphitheater. As a Coordinator, I helped other students plan lesson plans and gather materials for their club meets, for clubs including Arts & Crafts, Cooking, Music, PE, and Science.
